hadros Recruitment is working alongside a leading private credit fund that specializes in sustainability-related financing, and they are currently looking for an ESG Director to join their rapidly growing business in Singapore.
The Director of ESG is responsible for managing environmental and social (E&S) risk by advising on transactions and specific E&S issues to ensure alignment with the company's environmental and social framework.
The ideal candidate should have practical working knowledge of key international Environmental, Social, and Human Rights standards, particularly those applied in infrastructure and project finance transactions, such as Equator Principles and IFC Performance Standards on Environmental and Social Sustainability (IFC PS). The job requires the ability to apply key environmental and social criteria to clients and transactions, ensuring responsible management of E&S risks and impacts in accordance with best practices.

The job requires the ability to apply key environmental and social criteria to clients and transactions, ensuring responsible management of E&S risks and impacts in accordance with best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead E&S matters for debt transactions to ensure compliance with the company's environmental and social framework
- Prepare RFPs and ToRs for selecting lenders' independent E&S advisors for transaction due diligence
- Oversee the selection and evaluation process of lenders' independent E&S advisors
- Conduct borrower and project site visits with the investment team and independent advisors
- Negotiate E&S matters with borrowers, including loan documentation and action plans
- Prepare relevant sections of investment committee memoranda and contribute to ongoing E&S reviews
- Support the investment team in deal evaluation and execution work
- Maintain subject matter expertise in environmental, social, and human rights topics
- Support investor engagement and communicate E&S matters to investors
- Provide training and capacity building for the team on best practices
- Recommend improvements to the company's ESG Framework
- Identify opportunities to advance the sustainability agenda with clients in the region
Skills and Experience
- Academic degree in environmental science, environmental management, ecology, law, or related engineering fields
- 10+ years of relevant experience in environmental and/or social risk in greenfield project finance or infrastructure finance
- Deep knowledge of IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, and World Bank EHS Guidelines
- Experience in E&S due diligence in developing Asia, particularly South East Asia
- Experience working with development finance institutions and Equator Principles signatories
- Expertise in climate finance and impact frameworks
- Excellent communication skills and ability to manage stakeholder relationships
- Understanding of regulatory ESG aspects such as SFDR (desirable)
- Strong project management skills and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of banking, investment, and credit risk processes
- Willingness to travel
